These are my thumbtacks I made and put on a custom dart board. They are very colorful. I made 10 of them and used the 3d revolve effect. Also I used the pen tool to create the 2d sketch of them.

This is my future business card. I think I want to be a nanobot designer when I graduate so I made it the theme of my card. I used different text fonts and the flare tool in illustrator. And I photoshoped a picture of a nanobot with the burn tool. I tried to get rid of the white background but everything I tried didn't work.

Business Card Now

This is my business card now. It is 3.5in *2in so it is easier to carry around. Also it can fit in your wallet. I imported the wolf picture from photoshop and put stars on it in illustrator. It has all of my information on it.

Flamingo and Text

I used the pen tool to outline two flamingos and filled in both of the outlines. Also I put text in many different shapes. I didn't know that I could do so much with text before. I thinks it's interesting that text can be shaped in so many ways. I also like the pen tool because you can make it fit to detailed curves and features.

Line and Rectangle Tool

I used the line tool group and the rectangle tool group to make these shapes. There are many tools in these groups that are neat and easy to use. Some thought are more difficult to master at first but eventually get easier. I like the swirl tool even though it was one of the tough ones.

Snow Day

I think it is worse than closing the school all day. There are many reasons for why it's worse. First, it may not be icy on roads in some parts of Waxahachie, but it could be icy elsewhere. This could cause accidents for people that have to drive on icy roads because they don't have a choice but to go to school. Secondly, the wind was blowing in excess of 35mph, so it caused even more danger for drivers that already were driving on slick roads. These conditions caused many wrecks in Fort Worth and Dallas, so it would not be wise to drive in them. Also, it gave students a short break from the stress of school and homework. It gave them a chance to catch up on stuff they needed to and time for relaxation. Even though it seems biased, it is real important to have time to relax from stress because it can effect a students grades and concentration. Therefore, not giving them energy to reach their full potential. Finally, of course, kids want to have a chance to play in the snow and ice at least once every winter. That was probably the only opportunity for students to do that this winter. These are the reasons why it is worse to only delay school rather than cancel it. Plus, the school doesn't even have to make it up.

Tool Overview

A raster graphic is a graphic that becomes blurry or pixely when enlarged or shrunk. A vector graphic automatically adjusts to enlargement so it is not pixely. A fill is the color of the inside of a object. A stroke is an outline of an object that can be colored. The selection tool is used to resize or move objects. The direct selection tool is used to distort objects or move specific points on objects. A group of shapes is multiple shapes grouped together by the "group" feature. The selection tool resizes or moves the whole group of objects when used. The direct selection tool can move or distort a certain shape in a group without affecting the other shapes.

Bubble reflections

I created bubbles in illustrator with the illusion of a reflection of a window. The gradient, pen, and rectangle tool can be used to do this. It is difficult to get it right first, but as you learn it gets easier. I like making bubble with reflections.

In Illustrator I made a black and a red rectangle. I put a stroke on the red rectangle and resized both rectangles with the selection tool. Then I moved points on both rectangles with the direct selection tool and grouped them together. This was a fairly easy task.

Don't Take Away Weekends and Holidays

I think that cutting holidays and weekends is ridiculous because students and teachers work hard in order to earn time off during holidays and weekends. Football and basketball are just extracurricular activities that are for entertainment. Students can play these sports elsewhere other than school so sports are not more important than weekends and holidays. Also, taking away weekends and holidays would take away time for church service on Sundays and time for family and worship on relious holidays such as Christmas, my favorite holiday. And lastly, it would put to much stress on students for them not to have weekend and holiday breaks throughout the school year. There would be no time for family vacation or time for relaxing at home. There are many more reasons why the district should not take away weekends and holidays but these are my major points and I believe they are valid for the argument.
